The Wilsons are passionate about technical apparel and support the creation of a space that cultivates design talent, leadership and creativity to develop the next generations of designers that will elevate the world.

In 2013, the Wilson 5 Foundation embarked on its first significant project and gifted $8 million to Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) to build the Chip and Shannon Wilson School of Design.

The 65,000 square foot campus includes innovative teaching studios and labs, a testing centre, gallery space and expanded study and design spaces for students. It also houses advanced technology, such as laser cutters, 3D printers and ultrasonic welders.

In 2019, the Wilson School of Design at KPU was named the best overall fashion school in Canada by the Best Fashion Schools in the World report conducted by the Business of Fashion Magazine. The school received accolades in multiple categories including:
